The NCAA's latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) report, released Tuesday, showed that all Big West schools have met the standards for academic performance that relate to the eligibility and retention of each scholarship student-athlete, and eligibility for postseason competition.

Every Division I sports team calculates its APR each academic year, based on the eligibility, graduation and retention of each scholarship student-athlete.  Teams scoring below certain thresholds can face sanctions, such as scholarship reductions.  Rates are based on the past four years' performance.

No Big West team received penalties for low APR's.

Last week, 10 teams from Big West Conference schools received NCAA APR Public Recognition awards – tied for the most all-time since the APR program started – for being in the top 10 percent of their sport.

Nine Big West teams recorded a perfect APR score of 1,000 – Cal Poly (men's tennis), Cal State Fullerton (women's cross country), Cal State Northridge (men's cross country, women's cross country), Long Beach State (men's cross country), UC Davis (women's tennis), UC Irvine (women's cross country), UC Riverside (women's tennis) and Pacific (women's volleyball).

"I commend all of our Big West Conference member institutions for their continued commitment to strong academic performance," said Big West Commissioner Dennis Farrell.  "Our student-athletes have demonstrated an ability to exhibit success in the playing arena while balancing that against the pressures of the classroom."

The most recent APR scores are multi-year rates based on the scores from the 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years.  The Division I Board of Directors approved tougher academic standards in the fall of 2011, including setting a new standard that teams must meet to compete in the postseason.

The standard for postseason access starts at 900 APR but will increase to a multi-year 930, which equates to a 50 percent Graduation Success Rate.

APR scores per institution are available online through the NCAA's searchable database.
