The sixth annual Big West Coin drive is underway at our ten conference campuses for the month of February as each school’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) collects coins to donate to their chosen charity.
Each school’s SAAC will set up a location on each campus to collect coins for a designated charity from February 1-28. Each school will donate three-quarters of its collection to its charity and the other 25 percent to the winning institution’s charity. Pacific, the 2012 defending champ and three-time titleholder raised over $3,000, followed by UC Davis with $1,482 and Long Beach closing out the top three donating $1,387 last year.
The institutions have chosen the following charities for this year’s Coin Drive: Cal Poly (CURE International, SLO); Cal State Fullerton (Orangewood Children’s Foundation); Cal State Northridge (San Fernando Valley Community Health Center:100 Citizens Program); Long Beach State (City of Hope); UC Davis (Short Term Emergency Aid Committee (STEAC); UC Irvine (UCI Medical Center-Neonatal Intensive Care Unit); UC Riverside (Highland Elementary); UC Santa Barbara (Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation); Hawaii (Hawaii Pacific Chapter of the American Cancer Society); and Pacific (St. Joseph’s Medical Foundation, Breast Health Services).
Be sure to bring your change to your favorite Big West school to support a great cause throughout the month of February!
