Emily Hartong’s (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) stellar play helped Hawai‘i earn a share of the conference title and garner the senior her fourth Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week award this season.
Hartong also collected her eighth career weekly honor, tying her for fourth all-time in Big West history.
The 6-2 outside hitter dominated in a pair of road sweeps over UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton. The victories helped create a three-way tie for first place in the Big West at 13-3 between three NCAA Tournament-bound squads – UH, Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara.
Hartong averaged 6.00 kills, 2.33 digs and 0.50 blocks per set while swinging at a .421 clip in the two wins. She had 36 kills in 76 swings with just four errors.
The Rainbow Wahine utilized a match-high 20 kills from Hartong in a 25-20, 25-15, 25-18 victory against the Highlanders. It represented the 11th time this season that Hartong racked up 20 or more kills in a match.
Hartong led all players with 16 kills in UH’s 25-19, 25-18, 27-25 triumph over the Titans in Saturday’s regular season finale. She added 11 scoops to record her 13th double-double of the campaign.
