Long's Game-Winner Extends School Record Win Streak

UC Riverside junior Aaron Long (Oak Hills, Calif./Serrano HS) notched the game-winning goal in double overtime against UNLV to claim the Big West Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week citation.

The midfielder knocked in a header off of a corner kick with 8:24 remaining in the second overtime to give the Highlanders a thrilling 4-3 road victory against the Rebels.  The win improved UCR to 5-0 on the season.  The Highlanders are the Big West's lone remaining undefeated team and their five-game win streak is the longest in their 12-year Division I history.  The team's longest unbeaten streak is six matches set last season.

Long also contributed an assist on UCR's first goal, which knotted the match at 1-1.  He is the team's leading scorer with seven points on three goals and an assist.

Hauser Posts Shutout In Just Third Career Start

He lowered his goals against average to a Big West-leading 0.50 mark.  He also now boasts the second-best save percentage (.857) among conference netminders.

Cal Poly has now won two straight games for the first time since defeating Cal State Fullerton (1-0) and Cal State Northridge (2-0) on, respectively, Nov. 3 and Nov. 6, 2010.
