Cal State Fullerton senior Ann Marie Tangorra and Cal State Northridge senior Cynthia Jacobo captured the Big West Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards, respectively.
Tangorra Scores Both Goals For Titans
Senior Ann Marie Tangorra (Arcadia, Calif./Cal State Los Angeles) shined on the pitch for Cal State Fullerton, scoring both of the team's goals in an effort that earned her Big West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Tangorra notched her first goal against No. 1 Florida State in Tallahassee, tying the match in the 12th minute to answer a third-minute goal from the Seminoles. It was Tangorra's only shot of the day and the goal extinguished Florida State's shutout streak of nearly 365 minutes in the process.
In a 1-0 victory against Creighton, Tangorra struck with the game-winning score in the 89th minute as she volleyed home a ball from Jennifer Smith. The forward was all over the field against the Bluejays as she peppered them with six shots, including three on goal. Her goal secured Fullerton's second win of the year.
Tangorra has amassed a point in three consecutive matches.

Cal State Northridge's Jacobo Sets Career-High In Saves

The netminder had two gargantuan performances to preserve a pair of tightly contested draws at Matador Field. Against No. 22 Tennessee, Jacobo made a then-career high 11 stops as CSUN battled to a 0-0 tie in its first match ever against an SEC opponent.
Jacobo bettered that showing with a career-best 15 saves in a 1-1 tie against USC two days later. She faced 26 shots from Tennessee and 24 more from USC.
For the week, Jacobo posted a .963 save percentage and a 0.41 goals against average. The shutout versus the Lady Vols marked the 20th of her career and moved into 10th place all-time in the Big West record book. Jacobo ranks second all-time at CSUN in career shutouts.
