UC Irvine and Long Beach State finished within the top five of the 95 Division I schools that do not sponsor football, according to the release of the 2011-12 Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) All-Sports rankings.

The Big West has had at least one school finish in the top five of the Division-I AAA standings in each of the last six years.  This is the third time in that span that two Big West schools have placed in the top five.

UCI, which placed first in 2007, has appeared in the top five every year since, including back-to-back runner-up finishes.  LBSU posted its first top five finish.

Pepperdine won the All-Sports trophy in Division I-AAA with a total of 334.00 points.  UCI collected 274.00 points for second with Boston University in third with 230.00.  Rounding out the top five were Denver in fourth with 227.50 points and LBSU fifth with 226.00.

The Anteaters accumulated postseason points thanks to a national title in men's volleyball and Charles Jock's 800-meter victory in track.  They garnered additional points with a fourth place national finish in women's water polo and NCAA appearances in men's and women's soccer.

The 49ers captured DI-AAA ADA All-Sports Trophies in women's soccer and women's tennis.  The women's soccer team advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight while women's tennis reached the second round.  LBSU also accrued postseason points in women's volleyball, men's basketball, men's golf and softball.

Among all NCAA Division I institutions competing for the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup award, UC Irvine finished 69th among the 282 schools that earned postseason points.  Long Beach State was 87th and UC Santa Barbara 98th to give the Big West three schools within the top 100 for the first time since 2007-08 when the league had five.

Stanford University won its 18th consecutive Learfield Sports Directors' Cup award.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports - 10 women's and 10 men's.

Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on the NACDA's website at www.directorscup.org.
