Cal Poly freshman Elise Krieghoff and Cal State Northridge senior Cynthia Jacobo helped their teams to solid starts in conference play, earning Big West Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Krieghoff Scores Three Times In Pair of Cal Poly Victories

Freshman Elise Krieghoff (Clovis, Calif./Buchanan HS) posted three goals in two Cal Poly victories, garnering Big West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The midfielder led the Mustangs to a 2-0 Big West start and a tie atop the conference standings as they defeated Pacific (4-1) and UC Davis (1-0).

Krieghoff was a huge factor in each contest.  Against the Tigers, she recorded two goals and launched a team-high nine shots for the game.

She tallied her first game-winning goal of the season against the Aggies, pouncing on a rebound in the 12th minute and scoring to the back right corner.  It was Krieghoff's team-leading sixth goal of the season, which also moved her into a tie for the Big West lead.

Others nominated: Christina Burkenroad (Cal State Fullerton); Melissa Fernandez (Cal State Northridge); Nadia Link (Long Beach State); Dana Sanderlin (UC Irvine)

Jacobo Notches Third Award of 2012 Season

Senior Cynthia Jacobo (Granada Hills, Calif./Granada Hills HS) claimed her third Big West Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award this season as she allowed just one goal in 200 minutes of action in net.

The netminder made three saves and yielded her only goal of the week in a 1-1 draw on the road against No. 21 Portland.  She faced 16 shots against the Pilots.

In the Big West opener against Hawai'i, Jacobo recorded her Big West leading fifth shutout in a 2-0 triumph.  She made three move saves in the contest and increased her total to 67 on the year, second-most in the Big West.

For the week, Jacobo posted an .857 save percentage and 0.45 goals against average.  Her 21 career shutouts place her among the Big West top 10 all-time.

Others nominated: Alyssa Giannetti (Cal Poly); Rachel Wood (UC Irvine)
