The men's and women's Cal Poly cross country teams put up excellent showings at their respective events, with the help of David Cardona and Leanne Fogg. For their efforts, Cardona was named Big West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week and Fogg was tabbed Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
Cardona ran a time of 24:19 in the 8K at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneaplois, Minn., which featured a handful of nationally-ranked teams. The junior from Torrance, Calif., was the highest Big West finisher at the event.
While the men's 'A' team competed in the midwest, the women's team traveled to the Bay Area for the Stanford Invitational, were Fogg placed 10th at the elite event. The senior from Santa Rosa, Calif., ranked first among Big West contenders with a time of 20:57.
