Cal State Northridge's Kristen Mihm and Long Beach State's Erin Jones-Wesley parlayed outstanding performances into awards as Mihm won the Big West Player of the Week, while Jones-Wesley won the Big West Pitcher of the Week.

Mihm Perfect At Plate For Matadors Against Mustangs

Kristen Mihm had an exceptional time at the plate in Cal State Northridge’s series win over Cal Poly last weekend, resulting in Big West Player of the Week honors.

Mihm was a perfect 8-for-8 at the dish against the Mustangs, leading the Matadors to their first Big West series win of the year.

Mihm went 2-for-2 with a run scored in the opener, 3-for-3 with a run scored in the middle game and wrapped up the series with another 3-for-3 effort in the finale. The rubber game also saw her post two RBI and a double.

Mihm's perfect weekend raised her batting average to .474 in 15 league games, the top mark in the Big West. Her two three-hit games were also personal bests.

Jones-Wesley Claims Sixth Weekly Pitching Honor

Long Beach State's Erin Jones-Wesley won her sixth weekly pitching honor of the season after a stellar weekend against UC Santa Barbara.

Jones-Wesley picked up all three wins in the sweep over the Gauchos, moving her season record to 19-5.

She started the series with a complete game five-hitter in a 5-0 win. She then came on in relief in game two, pitching the final five innings of a 6-5 13-inning win for LBSU.

Jones-Wesley then wrapped up her weekend by working extras again, this time as a starter. She went all eight innings of game three, giving up seven hits, two runs (both earned), two walks and added seven strikeouts in a 3-2 win.

Jones-Wesley limited the UCSB hitters to just 14 hits in 20 innings and a .184 batting average.
