PAC's Fogelsong, UCSB's Cobb Earn Final Weekly Softball Awards Of 2011

Pacific's Megan Fogelsong and UC Santa Barbara's Krista Cobb claimed the final edition of the 2011 Big West softball weekly awards as Fogelsong was named Player of the Week, while Cobb came away with the Pitcher of the Week.

Fogelsong's Bat Leads Pacific To Big West Title

Megan Foglesong was a key offensive cog in Pacific's series win over Cal Poly last weekend, earning her Big West Player of the Week honors.

The freshman helped the Tigers claim the program’s first Big West title as a result of the series win, as she batted .500 (6-12) over the three contests.

Foglesong started the series with a double, two runs scored and a stolen bases in a 6-4, 10-inning Pacific win. In the middle game, Fogelsong went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored and a walk in another Pacific extra-inning win, this time 9-8 in eight frames.

Foglesong had another big game in the finale, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, a Pacific and Big West record-tying three doubles, and a run scored.

Cobb Pitches Every Inning Of UCSB Sweep

UC Santa Barbara's Krista Cobb had a workhorse effort in her final series of the 2011 season, resulting in Big West Pitcher of the Week accolades.

The junior pitched every inning of UCSB’s sweep of UC Davis, including a couple of extra-inning affairs.

Cobb’s first start was a nine-inning showing as she allowed nine hits, three runs (all earned), walked three and struck out three in a 4-3 Gaucho win.

Game two saw Cobb go all eight innings of a 3-2 win, allowing six hits, two runs (none earned), one walk and striking out five.

Cobb was able to hold the Aggies at bay in game three, going seven innings and allowing four hits, no runs, walking two and striking out four in a 2-0 win.

For the series, Cobb posted a 0.88 ERA in 24 innings and allowed just two extra-base hits and three earned runs the entire series.
