Big West Conference Commissioner Dennis Farrell today announced the fall sportsmanship team award winners for the sports of women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's cross country.
   
The Sportsmanship Award is voted upon by the respective student-athletes in each of the Big West's 16 championship sports.  UC Riverside won the award in the sports of women's volleyball and men's cross country.  It was the second consecutive year that the Highlander women's volleyball program was honored.  UC Davis repeated as the sportsmanship award recipient in the sport of women's soccer.  Cal Poly and Long Beach State were recognized as winners in men's soccer and women's cross country, respectively.
   
Winning teams are honored with commemorative tee shirts.
   
“It is with the utmost appreciation to bestow the Sportsmanship Award on those programs who exemplify the best of ideals of conduct in competition,” said Farrell.  “To be honored by your peers among the five fall sports that we sponsor is a source of great pride.”
