UC Riverside's Chad Hall and Jaasmin Pina both had impressive showings at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, earning them Big West Men's and Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors. This is the second award of the season for Hall and the first for Pina.
Hall finished third at the Bill Dellinger Invitational after running a career-best time of 23:18.91 on the 8K course to lead the UC Riverside men's cross country team to a fifth place finish out of nine teams. The senior from Big Bear, Calif., was just 0.03 seconds back of second place and eight seconds behind the winner, Southern Utahs Cameron Levins (23:10.51).
Pina also ran a career-best at the meet, clocking in a time of 17:29.66 in the women's 5K to finish 27th. The junior from Long Beach, Calif., was the top finisher of the three Big West schools participating in the event. The Highlanders went on to place eighth out of 10 teams.
