Topp's Goal Clinches Victory Against No. 18 UC Irvine

A pair of crucial goals for Pacific’s Alex Topp (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo HS) carved out Big West Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for the senior.

Topp came up big for the Tigers as they began Big West play unbeaten.  She scored the team’s lone goal on a header in a 1-1 overtime draw against Cal State Northridge on Friday.

In a 3-2 upset win versus No. 18 UC Irvine on Sunday, Topp scored the game-winning goal 5:11 into overtime, placing a shot to the lower right of the goal.  It concluded a busy afternoon in which she took a total of six shots, including four on goal.

The two scores gave Topp 11 career goals, becoming the 13th Tiger to amass double-digit goals.

Jacobo Helps Matadors To Win and Tie In Big West Road Play

Cal State Northridge started Big West play with an important four points thanks in large part to stellar goaltending from Cynthia Jacobo (Granada Hills, Calif./Granada Hills HS), who earned Big West Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Jacobo made 11 saves and recorded a 0.90 goals against average as the Matadors tied Pacific (1-1) and defeated UC Davis (3-1) in road action.  The junior withstood 14 shots from Pacific and made seven saves, helping CSUN earn a point in Stockton for the first time since 2003.  Jacobo stopped four more shots in the win over the Aggies, giving her 19 career victories.
