Big West Conference Reprimands Soccer Coach

Big West Conference Commissioner Dennis Farrell reprimanded UC Santa Barbara Head Men's Soccer Coach Tim Vom Steeg today for comments he made during a conference match on Friday, October 14, 2011.

After Cal Poly was awarded a penalty kick in the closing seconds of the match with UCSB, which resulted in a 2-1 Cal Poly victory, Vom Steeg protested with loud, profane language.  Vom Steeg was then red-carded and ejected from the match.  He later criticized the officiating in the contest to members of the media, which is a violation of Big West rules.

In issuing the reprimand, Farrell noted that Big West Bylaws prohibit the use of profane or unduly provocative language toward officials, opponents, or spectators.
