Cal State Fullerton junior Casey Volk and UC Riverside junior Jessica White were tabbed Big West Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their solid contributions.
Volk Nets Game-Winner In Win Against No. 18 UNC Greensboro
Casey Volk (Davis, Calif./Davis HS) scored the game-winning goal to give Cal State Fullerton its first win over a ranked opponent in nearly two years, earning her Big West Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Volk, a junior midfielder, cashed in her only shot of the match as she scored two minutes into the second half of an eventual 2-0 victory against No. 18 UNC Greensboro. She assisted on the other goal by Christina Murillo. Volk played an active role on the offensive end against UNCG after expending more effort defensively in a 2-1 loss to Purdue.
She was named to the 2010 Under Armour Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

White Picks Up Eighth Career Shutout In Road Victory
Jessica White (Yucaipa, Calif./Yucaipa HS) was a stalwart in goal for UC Riverside, capturing Big West Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week accolades after the Highlanders finished 1-1 on a roadtrip to the state of Texas.
White posted a shutout in the Highlanders’ 1-0 win at Texas State Friday. She made five saves and notched her eighth career shutout in the process.
She kept UCR in the game in a 1-0 loss to Texas Sunday. She faced 27 shots, 13 of which were on goal. White’s 12 saves against the Longhorns were the fourth-most in a single-game in school history. The junior also reached double-digit saves for the second time this season.
