After posting impressive results at the Asics/UCI Invitational, Cal Poly's Kayleigh Tyerman and UC Irvine's Colin Hacker were honored with the Big West Women's and Men's Athlete of the Week awards, respectively.
Tyerman, a sophomore from Medford, Ore., won her second consecutive race to start off the 2010 season, crossing the finish line in a course record 17:13.0. Her efforts led the Mustangs to the team title on the women’s side.
Meanwhile, Hacker kicked off his season with a solid run of 25:12.8 over the 8K course. The Lompoc, Calif., native, who redshirted a year ago, finished seventh in the field and led the Anteater men to a first place showing.
