Cal State Northridge's Farryn Townley garnered Big West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Matador teammate Cynthia Jacobo and UC Santa Barbara's Makenna Henry made key stops in goal to earn a share of the Defensive Player of the Week award.
Townley's Header Topples Kansas In Double Overtime
Farryn Townley (Palmdale, Calif./Highland HS) earned Big West Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors after knocking in the game-winning goal in Cal State Northridge’s win against Kansas at the UNLV Nike Classic.
The senior headed home the goal in the 102nd minute to give the Matadors the 1-0 victory in double overtime against the Jayhawks. It was Townley’s team-leading third goal of the season and her ninth career game-winner.
Townley also recorded a shot in CSUN’s other win at the tournament, 1-0 versus the host Rebels.

The Big West Women’s Soccer Co-Defensive Players of the Week are Cal State Northridge sophomore
Cynthia Jacobo (Arleta, Calif./Granada Hills HS) and UC Santa Barbara freshman
Makenna Henry (Fountain Valley, Calif./Fountain Valley HS) after outstanding performances by the two netminders.
Jacobo recorded a pair of 1-0 shutouts against Kansas and UNLV in the UNLV Nike Classic. She made 11 saves in the tournament, including seven against the Rebels.
Henry made a season-high seven saves to preserve a 1-1 tie versus No. 13 UCLA. She only allowed a penalty kick goal in the second half. Henry also blocked a first half penalty kick attempt by the Bruins.
