For the first time in its short Division I history, UC Davis is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies historic postseason journey begins in Stanford, Calif., as the selection committee placed the team in the Stanford Regional. UCD's opening game will be against #16 seed Hawai'i Friday at 3 pm. The host Cardinal and Texas Tech will square off in the other first round regional game.

UC Davis played the Rainbow Wahine in March at the Cathedral City Classic, dropping the game by an 8-5 score, and played a home game against the Cardinal that was a 6-2 loss. The squad did not play the Red Raiders during the season. The 16 regionals are played in a double elimination format with the winners advancing to the best-of-three Super Regional round May 28-29. The winners of those eight Super Regionals advance to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Aggies were co-winners of the 2010 Big West softball title with a 15-6 league mark, sharing the crown with Cal State Northridge. UCD claimed the league's automatic bid thanks to a series win over the Matadors, giving it the first NCAA bid in just its third season at the Division I level.

After entering conference play with just a 11-21 record, UC Davis rebounded against its conference foes to streak to the Big West title. The team won double-digit conference games for the first time and reached the .500 mark briefly after its rugged start. The Aggies are led by two way star Alex Holmes, who leads the team in batting (.352) and hits (58), while also posting a 16-9 record in the circle with a 2.94 ERA, 133 strikeouts and 11 complete games in 169.0 innings. The team also has gotten key contributions from Elizabeth Santana (.348 BA, 30 R, 55 H, 13 2B), Kylie Fan (.333 BA, 33 H, 14 RBI) and Dana Waldusky (10-14, 3.56 ERA, 115 K, 12 CG).

UH won both the Western Athletic Conference regular season crown and for the first time in school history, the WAC Tournament. It went 19-1 in conference, posting the second best record in WAC history. The club also leads the NCAA with 141 home runs, a single season NCAA record. Seven players have double digit homers led by Kelly Majam's 28 round trippers, while Melissa Gonzalez is right behind her with 23. Stephanie Ricketts leads the team in the circle with a 24-7 record. She has a 2.37 ERA, 25 complete games, five shutouts and 139 strikeouts in 201.0 innings.
