UC Davis' Alex Holmes was a catalyst for the Aggie road sweep over Cal Poly last weekend, netting her both weekly softball awards.
Holmes Knocks Around Mustangs in Series Sweep
Alex Holmes sizzling offense helped UC Davis to a sweep of Cal Poly last weekend, gaining her Big West Player of the Week accolades.
The junior recorded at least two hits in each game, including a trio of base knocks in game two.
Holmes started the series with a 2-for-4 performance with a double and a run scored, collected those three hits in four at-bats in game two, then had two more hits along with three RBI and two runs scored in the finale.
The 7-for-11 (.636) showing at the plate raised Holmes’ season average to .350 and extended her hitting streak to 10 games. She has recorded multiple hits in nine of those 10 outings.

Holmes Keeps Aggies in First With Dominating Pitching Efforts
Not only did Alex Holmes help UC Davis at the plate against Cal Poly, the two-way star shut down the Mustang offense in the circle to nab Big West Pitcher of the Week honors.
Holmes' first action against Cal Poly came out of the bullpen as she nailed down a save in the game on 4-3 Aggie win. In the nightcap of the first-day doubleheader, Holmes got the ball from the get-go and responded with a complete game six-hitter. She allowed three runs (all earned) and walked four, but picked up six strikeouts in the 7-3 UCD win.
Holmes finished the series with a dominating performance in a 10-0 mercy rule win. She pitched all five innings of the game, allowing just a pair of hits and walks, while also striking out two.
