A pair of veterans highlighted the weekly softball honors as UC Santa Barbara's Jessica Ziegler and Long Beach State's Brooke Turner garnered the awards.
Ziegler Leads Offensive Punch for UCSB
Jessica Ziegler was an offensive catalyst for UC Santa Barbara last week at the Wilson/DeMarini Invitational, leading to Big West Field Player of the Week accolades.
The senior recorded multiple hits in all but one of her five games last week, and collected an RBI in three of her outings.
Her best game was a 2-for-3 showing against Idaho State in which she scored twice, knocked in a run and added a walk in an 11-1 Gaucho win.
For the week, Ziegler hit .563 (9-16) with three RBI, four runs scored, two walks and two steals.
In addition to extending her seven-game hit streak last week, Ziegler leads the club with six multi-hit games and did not commit an error over the five contests in the desert.

Turner Dominates in Circle for LBSU
Brooke Turner was back in form for Long Beach State during a 1-1 week, netting her Big West Pitcher of the Week honors.
The junior was a tough luck loser in her first start last weekend, a 1-0 setback to Pac-10 foe Oregon. She allowed just one run on four hits over six innings, striking out a season-high eight against only one walk.
Turner was again dominant in her next start, a 6-2 win over Buffalo. She went all seven innings and allowed five hits, two runs (both earned), walked one and surpassed her previous season-high strikeout total with nine.
In total over her 13.0 innings, Turner registered a 1.62 ERA, allowed only nine hits, three runs (all earned), walked two and struck out 17
