Sam Willard (Pierre, S.D./T.F. Riggs HS) produced his fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season to lead Pacific to a conference road sweep and a share of the regular season title, earning him Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors.
Willard played a career-high 38 minutes in each of the wins against Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge. The Tigers finished the regular season atop the standings with UC Santa Barbara at 12-4.
In the 70-64 win against the Titans, Willard posted 14 points and 12 rebounds while adding a career-high four assists. He made 6 of 11 attempts from the floor, including his only three-pointer of the contest.
Against the Matadors, Willard collected his third 20-point game of the year in the 66-47 victory. Willard scored 20 points and yanked down 11 rebounds while hitting 7 of 15 shots from the field and 6 of 8 at the free throw line.
Pacific became the first Big West team to pick up road wins at both Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge this year.
For the week, Willard averaged 17.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He shot 50.0% (13 of 26) from the field and 77.8% (7 of 9) from the charity stripe.
