Cal Poly sophomore Matt Fawcett and UC Davis senior Desiree Stone garnered Big West Men's and Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades as both players went undefeated in singles and doubles.
Fawcett Posts Combined 7-0 Singles and Doubles Record

Matt Fawcett (Cape Town, South Africa/Old Dominion) earned Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors after an unblemished run through singles and doubles.
Fawcett posted a 4-0 record at No. 1 and No. 2 singles while going unbeaten in three matches with partner Robert Foy at No. 2 doubles. Fawcett’s play led the Mustangs to a 3-1 week with wins against Utah State, Portland and Ball State.
All four singles victories came in straight sets, including a 7-6, 6-2 triumph over Slavko Bijelica from No. 71 Purdue. Fawcett also upended Portland’s Filip Zivkovic 6-2, 6-4 and Ball State’s Cliff Morrison 6-4, 7-6 (2) as the Mustangs won their final two matches of the Boise State Spring Classic. Fawcett and Foy improved to 8-6 on the year in doubles dual matches.

Stone Helps UC Davis Extend Win Streak To Five Straight
Desiree Stone (North Hollywood, Calif./North Hollywood HS) of UC Davis claimed Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors after extending her personal singles and doubles winning streaks to four straight.
Stone’s victories at No. 1 singles included a 6-4, 6-0 triumph against Weber State’s Keya Jenkins and a 6-0, 6-2 win over Cal State Fullerton’s Tiffany Mai. Stone also teamed with Herzyl Legaspi to win at No. 1 doubles against their Wildcat and Titan opponents.
UC Davis has won five straight matches after recording 7-0 sweeps against the Wildcats and Titans. Stone is 6-2 in singles since starting the spring season 0-5.
