Long Beach State had a successful 4-1 showing at the Long Beach Invitational, resulting in a sweep of the Big West softball weekly accolades.
Javier Bats over .500 in Big Offensive Week for 49ers
Liz Javier jump started the Long Beach State offense in a 4-1 week for the 49ers, resulting in Big West Field Player of the Week accolades.
The junior was all over the bases at the Long Beach Invitational, putting up a .533 (8-15) batting average, scoring three runs and collected five walks in as many games.
She collected multiple hits against Purdue, Buffalo and San Diego and also recorded at least one base knock against Notre Dame and Idaho State.
Javier’s top performance came against the Boilermakers, putting up a 2-for-3 showing with a run scored, RBI and a walk.
Javier also posted a .650 on-base percentage and extended her hitting streak to seven games.

Turner Claims Back-to-Back Weekly Pitching Awards
Brooke Turner won her second consecutive Big West Pitcher of the Week honor after going 2-1 in the circle for LBSU.
The junior started her week with a solid performance in defeat, going seven innings against Notre Dame and allowing eight hits, four runs (three earned) and two walks while striking out five.
Turner then slammed the door on Idaho State in a 1-0 win, going the distance and allowing just five hits while picking up a season-best 13 strikeouts.
She came on in relief in her final appearance, shutting down San Diego to lead the 49ers to victory. With the score tied at 1-1, Turner allowed just one hit and struck out a pair in her two innings.
For the week, Turner posted a 1.31 ERA in 16.0 innings of work. She allowed just 14 hits, four runs (three earned), walked two and struck out 20.
