Cahn Shows Midseason Form for Mustangs in Season-Opening Weekend
Anna Cahn showed her dominant 2009 form in Cal Poly’s season-opening 2010 weekend, garnering Big West Pitcher of the Week honors.
The junior opened the weekend with an extra-inning masterpiece against Portland State. Cahn went all eight innings against the Vikings, giving up only three hits, no runs, two walks and striking out five in the 1-0 Cal Poly win.
The next day, she victimized PSU once again, shutting them out in the Mustangs’ 6-0 victory. This time around she allowed four hits, no runs, no walks and struck out three in the complete game victory.
In all, Cahn was 2-0 with a 0.47 ERA in 15.0 innings, which included a one-batter relief effort. She faced just 11 batters over the minimum in her two starts and had a 4-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Hom Leads Tiger Offense to Sweep of Santa Clara
Hom was exceptional for Pacific in just her second collegiate weekend of play, resulting in Big West Field Player of the Week honors.
The freshman was the main catalyst for the Tigers in a doubleheader sweep of Santa Clara. She picked up six hits over her eight at bats (.750), scored three runs and a pair of steals.
In the opener against the Broncos, Hom was a perfect 4-for-4, stole two bases and added an RBI. She had two more hits in the second game and picked up her first career double.
In addition, Hom picked up six consecutive hits in her first six at-bats over the twinbill.
