Cal State Fullerton's Erin Saddler picked up her fourth Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honor, after spearheading an offense that lifted the Titans to a 2-0 week against their central coast opponents. With the nod, she increases her career total to six, tying her with Long Beach State's Misty May for ninth in the Big West for most weekly accolades. Saddler is just two wins shy of tying former Cal Poly athlete Kylie Atherstone (2007) for most weekly honors in a season at six.
In the Titans' 18th win of the year, Saddler posted a match-high 17 kills and hit .273 as the Titans knocked the Gauchos out of first place. The Bellflower, Calif., native also added five digs and three blocks (two solos) in the win.
The following night versus Cal Poly, the senior outside hitter recorded a team-high in kills with 15 as the Titans had to come back to win three straight sets after dropping the first to the Mustangs. The victory elevated Cal State Fullerton to 19 wins, a school record, and wrapped-up season series sweeps over the Gauchos and Mustangs for the first time in school history.
Saddler, who was instrumental in lifting the Titans into sole possession of first place in the Big West, averaged 4.57 kills and 1.17 digs per set while notching a .228 hitting percentage.
Others nominated: Natalie Allen (Cal State Fullerton), Haleigh Hampton (Long Beach State), Allison Whitson (UC Davis), Hannah Clancy (Pacific).
