Assisting the Pacific Tigers to back-to-back wins for the first time this season, sophomore Christina Thompson (Sacramento, Calif./Capital Christian) collected her first Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor, for the week ending Jan. 3.
In the first of two wins that snapped a seven-game skid, Thompson tallied career-highs in points (17), rebounds (8), field goal attempts (14) free throws made (5) and free throw attempts (12). Her efforts led Pacific to a 70-63 win over the Saint Mary's Gaels. She shot 6-of-14 from the field to tally a .428 shooting percentage in 31 minutes of action.
In Pacific's next contest, a Big West season-opening outing at Cal State Northridge, Thompson reestablished career-highs in a variety of categories, including points as she drained 23 in 22 minutes of action. She also bested her previous performance in free throws made (11) and free throw attempts (14).
For the week, the 6-0 forward/center shot .480 from the field and .615 from the charity stripe, while averaging 20.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest.
