UC Davis midfielder/defender Chris Beville headlined a steady defensive effort for the Aggies last week, netting him Big West Player of the Week accolades.

The junior was part of a defense that held a solid Saint Mary’s attack to just seven shots, including just two second half attempts, but it was his work against rival Sacramento State that drew the most attention.

Playing with 10 men for 24 minutes and nine for the final 10 minutes, Beville anchored a UCD defense that allowed 15 second half shots, but only two on frame and none in the net for a 1-0 win over its archrival. The victory marked the fourth consecutive win for the Aggies over the Hornets.
