This week’s edition of the Big West weekly cross country honors went to a veteran and a first time winner as UC Riverside's Chad Hall and Cal State Northridge's Lilyana Morejon claimed the Men's Athlete of the Week and Women's Athlete of the Week awards, respectively.

Hall, a sophomore from Big Bear, Calif., led the Highlanders to a second place finish at the UCR Invitational last weekend. Competing for the first time in 2009, Hall finished first among his club, first among Big West competitors and eighth overall with a time of 24:17.1. The time is the best in the league so far in '09.

Morejon, a junior from North Hollywood, Calif., continued her hot start to the season with a fifth place finish at the UCR Invitational. Her time of 17:07.1 was the best finish over the 5K course of any Big West competitor, tops in the league thus far and gave Morejon a second top-five finish in as many races this season. It also marked the first CSUN women’s runner to claim league weekly honors since the 2006 season.
