Long Beach State sophomore midfielder Shawna Gordon (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Los Osos HS) is the Big West Women's Soccer Player of the Week after leading the 49ers to a season-opening 2-0 home win against Fresno State.

Gordon had a goal and an assist as the 49ers won their opener for the fourth consecutive season.  She assisted on the first goal by Lindsay Bullock off of a corner kick.  Gordon later added an insurance goal on another corner kick as her shot curved in and slipped through the Bulldog goalkeeper's hands.

The 49ers outshot the Bulldogs 15-6 for the match with Gordon playing a big role in Long Beach State's control of the possession.
