UC Santa Barbara
The Gauchos enter the 2009 season as the favorite for the second year in a row. Picked to win the league title last year, UCSB finished second overall with a record of 12-7-3 (5-2-1 Big West). The Gauchos earned their first bid to the NCAA Tournament in school history upon winning the 2008 Big West Tournament. UCSB returns a wealth of talent this season, led by 2008 Big West Offensive Player of the Year Genelle Ives. Hear from coach Paul Stumpf, who believes his team is poised to battle for the Big West crown again and a second consecutive bid to the NCAA Tourney.

Long Beach State
In 2008, Long Beach State finished 14-5-4 overall and undefeated (7-0-1) in Big West Conference play to win the regular season crown. It was the third-straight year the 49ers had won at least a share of the conference title. That, coupled with getting to the final of the Big West Tournament earned the squad their first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament. Coach Mauricio Ingrassia was honored as the Big West Coach of the Year, while the team, riddled with stars from their celebrated 2004 recruiting class, placed 10 players on the All-Big West roster.
