This week's version of the Big West weekly softball honors went to one player who was perfect at the plate, and another who led her club to big wins in the circle as Cal State Northridge's Jaclyn Rymer (Player) and Cal Poly's Anna Cahn (Pitcher) were honored.

Rymer Leads CSUN to Sweep in Return to Hometown

Cal State Northridge first baseman Jaclyn Rymer (Bakersfield, Calif./Liberty HS) had an outstanding day at the plate in two games against Cal State Bakersfield last week, netting her Big West Player of the Week accolades.

The junior, who was playing in her hometown, was a perfect 8-for-8 over the two-game Matador sweep. In the first game, Rymer went an incredible 5-for-5 with three RBI, a double and a run scored. The five hits tied a school record for single game hitting, tying a mark that had stood since March 4, 1982.

Rymer went 3-for-3 in game two to finish off her perfect day, adding a RBI, a double, a walk and scoring a run.

The hitting spree upped Rymer’s average to .378, a jump of 67 points prior to the two games.

Cahn Adds to Weekly Award Collection with Third Honor of ‘09

Cal Poly pitcher Anna Cahn (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) had another big week in the circle for the Mustangs, leading to her third Big West Pitcher of the Week award of the season.

The sophomore opened up her time at the Capital City Classic with a complete game win over Brigham Young. She allowed seven hits one run and struck out eight in a 4-1 victory. Cahn also allowed just one extra-base hit and walked none.

After coming in for a relief stint against Colorado State which netted her a save, Cahn made the start against #10/7 California and shut down the Golden Bears in a 4-1 Mustang win.

She allowed just six hits, one run, walked one and struck out six in the Cal Poly victory, the 13th straight win for the club.
