For the third time in four weeks, one of the Big West weekly softball awards was shared as the Player of the Week nod went to Long Beach State's Kristin Pocock and Pacific's Nicole Matson. Meanwhile, the weekly pitching honor went to Cal Poly's Anna Cahn.

The sharing theme of weekly softball honors continued this week as Long Beach State junior
Kristin Pocock (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Cal Poly) and Pacific sophomore
Nicole Matson (Casatic, Calif./Valencia HS) were named Co-Big West Players of the Week.
Pocock, a designated player/catcher, batted .471 (8-17) with four RBI, two runs scored, three doubles, a triple and two walks during the 49ers' 5-0 showing at the Mayfair Invitational. She had three multi-hit games and knocked in a pair against Iowa State and brought home the mercy-rule runs against both the Cyclones and #15/12 Fresno State.
Matson, a shortstop, batted .444 (8-18) with seven RBI, eight runs scored, five doubles, three walks and a stolen base during the Cox Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. She recorded three multi-RBI games, scored a run and recorded a hit in every outing, and tallied a .524 on-base percentage. Her best game was a three-hit, three RBI, three-run showing against Illinois.

Cahn Silences Bats During DeMarini Invitational

Anna Cahn (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) was outstanding in the circle for the Mustangs during the DeMarini Invitational, netting her Big West Pitcher of the Week accolades.
The sophomore kicked off the tournament with a three-hit shutout of Oregon State, then suffered a tough defeat to #5/7 Stanford after giving up three runs (one earned) and four hits over 6.2 innings.
Cahn bounced back from that loss to come in to pick up the last out with two on against Indiana, then delivered another complete game gem against Nevada. Against the Wolfpack, she allowed no runs and three hits while facing just three batters over the minimum.
For the week, Cahn was 2-1 with a 0.33 ERA and allowed only 10 hits, three runs (one earned) and struck out 10.
