LBSU's Pocock, UCD's Harman Share Big West Field Player of the Week Honor
Long Beach State's Kristin Pocock (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Cal Poly) and UC Davis' Kelly Harman (Trabuco Canyon, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) parlayed big performances over the weekend into a shared Player of the Week honor.
Pocock, a junior catcher/designated player, was seemingly on base throughout the 49ers' weekend in San Diego at the Campbell/Cartier Classic.
She went 3-for-6 officially, but walked seven times over the five games. She made her hits count as she hit a homer, knocked in four runs and came around to score one three occasions. Pocock also spread out her RBI as she collected at least one in three of the games and knocked in the eventual game-winner against #24 San Diego State.
Harman, a freshman infielder, was a huge part of the Aggie offense at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic hosted by UNLV.
She started things out with a 2-for-4 day against Brigham Young, hitting a homer, knocking in a pair and scoring twice in a 5-0 win. After picking up a hit against Oregon State, she broke out against WAC power Hawai'i. Against the Wahine, Harman went 3-for-3 with two homers and three RBI in UCD's 8-1 victory. She closed things out with a 1-for-2 day against Utah, knocking in a run with her base knock.
For the week, Harman batted .500 (6-for-12) with three home runs, six RBI, four runs scored and a walk.

UCD's Hancock Blows Away Competition in Sin City
UC Davis pitcher Jessica Hancock (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson HS) was dominant at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic, earning her first career Big West Pitcher of the Week award.
The senior kicked off her time in the desert with a complete game win over Brigham Young, allowing three hits, walking four and striking out six in a 5-0 win.
Hancock ratcheted up the intensity in her second start against Hawai'i. The Wahine had a tough time against the first team All-Big West pitcher, striking out 18 times, collecting three hits and scoring just one run in an 8-1 Aggie win. The 18 k's were a career-high for Hancock, one short of the school record and tied the single-game Big West mark.
