A record-setting night for sophomore Caitlin Ledoux in Long Beach State's win over UC Riverside earned her Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, for the week ending Nov. 15. This is her first honor of the season and the 49ers' second award recipient of the year following Naomi Washington's selection on Sept. 14.
In Friday's match at UC Riverside, Ledoux tied former 49er Tara Cross for the sixth-most kills in a single match in Long Beach State history with 33. Her 33 kills were the most for any Long Beach State player since Tayyiba Haneef in 2000, and Ledoux was just the third player in school history to reach 33 kills, joining Haneef and Cross (five times) at that number. The outside hitter from Phelan, Calif., also added a pair of aces and nine digs against the Highlanders.
The following night at Cal State Northridge, Ledoux nearly finished with a 20-20, posting 21 kills and 19 digs against the Matadors, pacing Long Beach State in both categories.
For the week, Ledoux averaged 6.00 kills and 3.11 digs per set while hitting .236.
Others nominated: Dominique Olowolafe (Cal Poly), Lynda Morales (Cal State Northridge), Kari Pestolesi (UC Irvine), Svenja Engelhardt (Pacific)
