An explosive offensive output by Rebecca Saraceno last week guided UC Santa Barbara to a 2-1 mark and earned her Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors, for the week ending October 18. This week's accolade is the third of the season for Saraceno after collecting weekly honors on Sept. 7 and Sept. 28.

In a nonconference meeting with the Pepperdine Waves, the Redondo Beach, Calif., native blasted 27 kills and 16 digs to post her first of two double-doubles on the week. She also added two services aces and three block assists to her total.

Friday evening the Gauchos posted a 3-2 conference win over Pacific to improve their home record to 6-0 thanks in part to Saraceno, who tallied her second consecutive 27-kill performance, while also scooping 10 digs. She followed that up with a 28-kill performance, one shy of her career-best, in the 3-2 loss to UC Davis.

For the week, the 6-2 outside hitter registered a .315 hitting percentage, while tallying 82 kills and averaging nearly six kills per game (5.86 KPG). She had two double-doubles and was one dig shy of capturing her third double-double of the week.

Others nominated: Caitlin Ledoux (Long Beach State), Kayla Varney (UC Davis), Kari Pestolesi (UC Irvine), Dominique Cowling (UC Riverside)
