A season-best performance by Cal Poly’s Kylie Atherstone earned her Big West Player of the Week honors, for the week ending Sept. 21.  This marks Atherstone's second accolade of the season and 11th of her career, extending her Big West record she set two weeks ago with her 10th player of the week award.

In the first match of the Mission Inn of Pismo Beach Invitational, Atherstone recorded a season-high 21 kills and a match-high .450 hitting percentage.  Her 21 kills against Saint Mary’s was the highest single-match kill total by a Mustang this season.  The senior outside hitter also added 17 digs and two service aces.

The Mustangs closed out their home tournament with a meeting with No. 6 Stanford.  Against The Cardinal, Atherstone registered 17 kills and 11 digs to record her team-leading sixth double-double of the year.

For the week, the Chico, Calif., native led Cal Poly in total kills (38), kills per set (4.75), total digs (28) and digs per set (3.50) and finished second with a .346 hitting percentage and three aces.

Others nominated: Brittany Moore (Cal State Fullerton) and Renee Ibekwe (UC Davis).
