LBSU's Gray Claims All-America Honors for Second Straight Season

With a backdrop of record flooding in the state of Iowa, Long Beach State's Brent Gray claimed All-America honors at the NCAA Track  Field Championships, marking the second straight season Gray has claimed national honors following at the NCAA meet.

Gray finished fifth in the 200 to claim the All-America honor, joining teammate Chris Richardson who claimed national honors in the decathlon Thursday.

UC Riverside's Brenda Martinez also went for All-America honors during the last day of the NCAA meet as she competed in the finals of the 1500 meter run. She was unable to finish in the top eight but still posted an excellent effort of 4:24.99.

The overall team titles at the NCAA Championships went to LSU on the women's side and Florida State for the men. Cal Poly was the highest scoring Big West women's team with eight points thanks to Sharon Day's second place finish in the high jump. On the men's side, Long Beach State finished with eight points to lead conference schools, thanks to the efforts of Richardson and Gray.
