Pacific's Gonzalez Continues To Roll At No. 2 Singles

David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) improved to 13-2 on the year in dual singles matches after a 2-0 performance at the No. 2 spot for matches played between March 24-30, earning him Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Gonzalez helped the Tigers to wins over DePaul (4-3) and Nevada (6-1) as he also went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles with Tiger partner Vegerd Veskimagi. Gonzalez defeated DePaul's Jose Moncada, 6-1, 7-6 (4), and downed Nevada's Alex Daruty in a three-set thriller, taking the match 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
In doubles, Gonzalez and Veskimagi toppled the Blue Demon duo of Vanja Grgec and Bartosz Jozwiak, 8-6. Against the Wolf Pack's Benjamin David and Guerin Smith, the Pacific tandem racked up an 8-3 victory. Gonzalez is 6-3 in doubles action this spring, playing with three different partners.
Bernhard Wins Fourth and Fifth Straight Singles Matches

Becky Bernhard (Roseville, Calif.) picked up Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades after capturing a pair of singles wins at the No. 1 position.
Bernhard notched a 6-4, 6-4 win over Boise State's Pichittra Thongdach, collecting one of UCI's two points in the 5-2 team loss to the No. 43 Broncos. Her 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Cal State Northridge's Victoria Brymer helped the Anteaters to a key 5-2 team victory over the Matadors.
The wins gave Bernhard a five-match win streak at her No. 1 spot.
