Starke Picks Up Two Victories At No. 1 Singles

Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) earned Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week after helping the Tigers to a pair of non-conference victories during the period of March 17-23.
Starke won both of his matches at No. 1 singles as Pacific toppled Georgia Southern (6-1) and Marquette (4-3) in a doubleheader on Monday, March 17. He defeated Emmanuel Nkoueleue of GSU by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 and then came back to beat the Golden Eagles' Trent Hagan 6-4, 6-4.
He captured one of two doubles matches as he and partner Artem Gramma outlasted Nkoeleue and Borja Malet of Georgia Southern, 8-6.
Starke is now 7-4 on the season in singles dual matches and 6-5 in doubles. His record in singles play over his three-year career at Pacific is 39-16.
Koichumanova Stays Perfect In Doubles

Kanykey Koichumanova (Bishkek, Kyrgystan) garnered Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades for the period of March 17-23. She moved to 12-0 with partner Brooke Doane in dual doubles matches with three wins at the No. 2 position.
Koichumanova and Doane defeated duos from Yale, Minnesota and Boise State, helping the Matadors to a 1-2 record for the week.
In singles, Koichumanova went 2-1 at the No. 2 slot. She breezed past Yale's Jessica Rhee, 6-4, 6-1 and took care of Boise State's Polina Kokoulina 6-4, 6-2. Her only setback occurred against Golden Gopher counterpart Lindsay Risebrough, dropping a tough three-set battle 6-7 (2), 6-1, 3-6.
