Duran Leads UCSB in Rain-Shortened Home Tournament

UC Santa Barbara infielder Tisha Duran (Ventura, Calif./Ventura College) delighted the Gaucho fans with a big weekend at the plate, leading to Big West Player of the Week honors.
The senior’s week started with a bang as she knocked home the game’s only run in a 1-0 win over Portland State. She then exploded for three hits in as many at-bats the next day against St. John’s. Included in that barrage was a homer, a double and two RBI. She then wrapped up the weekend by going 2-for-3 with another homer, three RBI and two runs scored in another game against the Vikings.
For the week, Duran batted .667 (6-9) with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored. She ranks second in the Big West in batting (.474) and has driven in 16 of the Gauchos’ 35 runs so far in 2008.
