UC Irvine's Kari Pestolesi and Cal State Northridge's Brittany Williams led their respective teams to significant wins in the final contests of the 2008 season to earn Co-Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors. This is the second weekly award for Pestolesi, while Williams collects her first honor.
Pestolesi led UC Irvine to a pair of wins as the Anteaters finished second in the Big West, their best finish since 2003. In the 3-2 win over UC Santa Barbara, the sophomore outside hitter put away 17 kills and 28 digs, her second-best dig effort of the season. She also added a service ace to total a team-high 35 on the season.
The following night against Cal Poly, Pestolesi recorded a team-high 18 kills while picking up 19 digs. For the week, Pestolesi combined for 35 kills and 47 digs in nine sets.

Williams, who had five crucial kills in the decisive fifth set, posted a team-high 19.5 points as the Matadors defeated a ranked team for the first time since 2005.
