Cal Poly's Daniel Gonia and Cal State Fullerton's Carolyn Ellis made their time in Oregon memorable as they claimed Big West Cross Country Men's and Women's Athlete of the Week accolades, respectively, after competing against quality competition at the Bill Dellinger Invitational.

Gonia, a junior from Santee, Calif., won his second weekly honor of the season. He ran the 8K course at the Dellinger in 24:50, good for 21st place. Gonia’s finish helped the team finish 5th at the prestigious event.

Ellis, a junior from Lake Forest, Calif., ran her first race of the season at the Dellinger after missing time due to a hip injury.

She finished the 6K course in 21:01.01, recording a 10th place finish in a field that included five nationally ranked teams. Even more impressive about her finish was the fact she was battling a stomach cramp in the cool conditions.
