Nancy Avesyan (La Canada, Calif./La Canada HS) led their teams to positive results with key offensive contributions, earning them Big West Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week honors.
Ives posted seven points on three goals and an assist to help the Gauchos to a tie and a win against Big West co-leaders Pacific and Cal Poly. She scored the Gauchos' only goal in a 1-1 double overtime tie against the Tigers on Friday. Ives then produced two goals and an assist in a 4-2 road victory against the Mustangs on Sunday. She extended her streak with at least one goal to three straight games, and took over the team lead with eight goals on the season.
Avesyan helped the Matadors reach a program milestone in a 2-0 win against UC Davis on Friday. The win was the 100th Division I victory for CSUN, and Avesyan’s goal at the 56:08 mark provided the game-winner, the first of her career.
She followed up with another game-winning tally in a 2-1 triumph versus Pacific on Sunday. Avesyan struck in the 88th minute against the Tigers, and in the process gave CSUN two Big West wins in the same weekend since Oct. 8-10, 2004 versus UC Irvine and Long Beach State. Avesyan leads the team with 11 points on the season.
