The one of the premier national cross country meets in the nation takes the spotlight on the Big West calendar as several conference schools head to Terre Haute, Ind., for the Pre-National Invitational Saturday morning. The meet serves as a precursor to the NCAA Championships in mid-November.
Cal Poly, Long Beach State, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara are the Big West clubs heading to the Midwest for Pre-Nationals.
The meet, hosted by Indiana State, is so large that both genders split up into "Blue" and "White" races. The men will compete in an 8K competition, while the women take part in a 6K race.
Saturday also sees a conference school hosting a meet, while two others will compete in in-state races.
Cal Poly will host the Cal Poly Invitational that sees Central Coast rival UC Santa Barbara among the participants in San Luis Obispo.
That same day, Long Beach State and Pacific take part in the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara.
A day before the Pre-National Invitational, two clubs will head up to Bakersfield for the Cal State Bakersfield Quad Meet. Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge will be the conference duo that competes in the four-club meet.
