UC Santa Barbara sophomore guard James Powell exploded for 25 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Gauchos held off a late rally by UC Riverside on Wednesday night, January 30.  UCSB defeated UCR by a score of 64-53, finishing the game on a 12-3 run after the Highlanders pulled within two points with 5:47 left.  Following the game, Powell discussed his stellar offensive night in a post-game press conference.  Also hear from Gauchos’ head coach Bob Williams’ thoughts on the game and UCR head coach Jim Wooldridge on his team’s effort.

UC Santa Barbara will have the weekend off, returning to action on Thursday night, February 7 at home against Cal State Fullerton on BigWest.TV.  UC Riverside will welcome Cal Poly on Saturday, February 2 in a game to be televised on FSN Prime Ticket at 2:00 p.m. PST.  The UCR-Cal Poly game will not be shown on BigWest.TV.
