Landes Nets UC Davis First-Ever Big West Men’s Tennis Honor

Henri Landes (San Anselmo, CA) helped UC Davis make a solid Big West debut by posting a combined 3-0 record in a pair of Aggie victories and earning the first Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor of the 2008 season.
The Aggies defeated No. 75 Santa Clara (4-1) and UC Santa Cruz (5-1) in back-to-back matches on Jan. 19 in a successful introduction as members of the Big West. Landes, at the No. 2 singles position, recorded wins over SCU's Steven Benvenuto and UCSC's Max Ortiz to help the Aggie cause. Landes defeated Benvenuto 6-2, 6-4 while prevailing in three sets over Ortiz by a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 score. Landes won the clinching match in both wins for the Aggies.
Landes then teamed with Nick Lopez to win 8-2 at the No. 3 doubles spot over the Santa Clara tandem of Justin Wong and Charlie Burke.
Brady and Grady Share Big West Women's Tennis Accolades

Shannon Brady (Torrance, CA) and Long Beach State junior
Hannah Grady (Coventry, England) swung into the 2008 season as Big West Women's Tennis Co-Athletes of the Week.
Brady helped the Mustangs open the season 2-1 with wins over Santa Clara and UC Santa Cruz against a loss to Pepperdine. She won both of her singles contests, including a 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Pepperdine's Alex Liles at the No. 4 position. Brady represented the Mustangs at No. 3 against Santa Clara's Myra Davoudi and came away with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
In doubles action, Brady and partner Amy Markoff went 2-1 for the Mustangs.
Grady, the two-time Big West Player of the Year, started her season off in impressive fashion as she dominated San Diego's Monica Wiesener, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 position. At No. 1 doubles, Grady and Stephanie Bengson cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Torero duo of Milou Teeling and Carla Tamborini. Long Beach State, ranked No. 41 by the ITA, defeated USD by a 6-1 score.
