Donovan Morris (San Bernardino, Calif./Fresno State/Cajon HS) had two impressive scoring performances to lead Long Beach State to a split of two games at home and collect his second Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor this season.
Morris averaged 26.0 points per game while shooting a torrid 66.7 (18 of 27) percent from the field and 60.0 (6 of 10) percent from three-point range. The league's third leading scorer (18.2 ppg) also converted 10 of 13 (76.9%) free throw attempts for the week.
Despite losing 83-77 to Pacific, the 49ers watched Morris deliver a career-high 32 points on 10 of 15 shooting. He made 4 of 6 from three-point territory while playing 39 minutes against the Tigers.
Morris sparked Long Beach to a 71-53 victory over UC Davis on Saturday. He made 8 of 12 shots from the floor, including 2 of 4 from distance. He also dished out four assists and had a blocked shot.
The 6-3 guard has a current streak of 14 straight games with double-digit points. His 20 points against UC Davis gave him his seventh game this season with 20 points or more.
