UC Riverside goalkeeper Charles Alamo (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo HS) was a wall in net for the Highlanders, claiming a couple of shutouts on his way to Big West Player of the Week honors.
The senior started his week with a 2-0 blanking of then #21 San Diego State, the first time UCR has beaten a ranked foe in its Division I history. Alamo stopped all four shots he faced in the contest.
Alamo then made five saves in an overtime loss to Mercer, but was right back on top of his game with a three-save effort in a 1-0 win over Alabama A&M. The two shutouts gave him 12 for his career.
For the week, Alamo recorded a 0.66 goals against average, a .857 save percentage and picked up 12 saves while playing all 274:29 of the Highlanders' matches.
