The Big West Conference welcomed the University of California, Davis to the league on Sunday, July 1. UC Davis completed its four-year reclassification process from the Division II ranks to Division I and now is a full-fledged member of the conference. UC Davis is one of four Big West institutions that are members of the University of California system.
The Aggies will compete in all 17 conference-sponsored sports. UC Davis has played a full schedule against Big West schools in all round robin sports the past three years and has also been a scoring member of the the Big West Swimming and Diving Championships.
UC Davis was a strong Division II member having won the NCAA DII Director's Cup in six of the last eight years in which the university was eligible at the Division II level.
UC Davis joins the eight other Big West members: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and Pacific.
