Cal State Fullerton's Courtney Martinez and Cal Poly's Robyn Kontra closed out the regular season by being named the Big West Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, it was announced today.
CSF’s Martinez Leads Titans to Sweep of UC Riverside
Cal State Fullerton infielder Courtney Martinez (Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills HS) was a key player for the Titans last weekend as they finished the regular season with a sweep of UC Riverside.
The sophomore led CSF in multiple offensive categories and recorded three multiple hit games in the sweep of the Highlanders. She drove in a pair of runs and recorded a run of her own in the opener as the Titans tallied a season-best 15 runs.
After picking up two more hits in game two, she recorded her team-best fifth three-hit game of the season in the finale, scoring a run and adding her second double of the series.
For the week, Martinez hit .583 (7-12) with two RBI, two runs score and a pair of doubles. She’s currently riding a five game hitting streaking during which she’s hitting .450 (9-20).

Kontra Holds Down Pacific for Key Win During Mustangs’ Title Run
Cal Poly pitcher Robyn Kontra (Valencia, Calif./Hart HS) held one of the league’s top offenses in check on the way to a big win during the Mustangs’ drive to the Big West title.
The junior went the distance in her lone start against Pacific, allowing just one hit and walking one while striking out three batters.
She carried a no-hitter into the final inning and allowed just one Pacific batter to second while facing three hitters over the minimum.
Kontra, who won her second Pitcher of the Week honor this season, wrapped up the regular season 12-6 with a 2.18 ERA in 128.1 innings. She also added 11 complete games and struck out 73.
